It seemed to be on the minds of nearly everyone who knew who Beyonce’, 30 and Jay Z, 42 (real name Sean Carter) were. There was even speculation that Beyonce’ was pregnant at one point after her very public reveal on an awards show. She was pregnant, and she is no longer.
The high-profile couple welcomed their new addition to the world Saturday night.
Blue Ivy Carter came into the world through cesarean section in Lenox Hill Hospital. Twitter was blowing up all weekend with news of the newest addition to the Carter family. Tweets were sent to the happy parents from fans and super-stars alike. At one point there was confusion over little Blue Ivy’s name and Beyonce’s gal-pal, Gwyneth Paltrow, clarified it for the twitter followers.
Not even two days old and little Blue has strict security measures in place at the Manhattan hospital in which she was born. Some of these measures would make presidents turn green with envy.
It is rumored that to accommodate the power couple and their new arrival, other new and expectant parents were on lockdown within the hospital and other moms and dads were booted from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The NICU happens to be on the same floor as Beyonce’s delivery suite. The measure was done so that the Beyonce’/Jay-Z entourage could come and go without being bothered by fans.
"They just used the hospital like it was their own and nobody else mattered," Said one dad who was trying to see his preemie newborn son in the NICU.
"They locked us into the NICU and would say, 'You can't come out to the hallway for the next 20 minutes.' When I finally was able to go back out, I went to the waiting room and they'd ushered my family downstairs," said the infuriated new dad.
Interestingly, an event planner in the Boston area, upon hearing of the little princess’s name, has declared that Beyonce must have named her new daughter after her business.
Veronica Alexandra who owns and operates her event planning company called “Blue Ivy,” exclaimed that she had to have known about her business since any internet search for the name brings up her business on the top page.
"Clearly, great minds think like," she told TMZ
She also added she would like to plan some of baby Blue’s milestone celebrations.
