I sat back and watched dispassionately when Charlie Sheen became involved with Heidi Fleiss; Charlie Sheen was, after all, a mega-superstar and she was a madame to the stars dedicated to seeing that their needs were met, so it was to be expected. I didn’t pay attention to his drug rehab problems, either- seriously drugs are the norm for former brat-packers, aren’t they?
I can’t look the other way any more. No matter how cute he still may be, Charlie Sheen’s charm has definitely worn more than a little thin. Lots of women and drugs are one thing; domestic violence is entirely another. Charlie Sheen has finally gone altogether too far. In a Colorado court recently, the 44-year-old actor was able to plea bargain his domestic violence charges down to a misdemeanor. His crime was much more serious than the Misdemeanor charge indicates- he brandished a knife and threatened to kill his wife Brooke Mueller. No biggie, right? His sentence included re-hab (good luck with that one, Charlie), a month of probation, and anger management classes.
In the state where I live, someone who is arrested for drunk driving gets a lot bigger sentence than Charlie Sheen received for his crimes. Someone with a criminal rap sheet like Charlie’s should be punished for his crimes- no matter who he is. This isn’t his first charge of domestic violence and although I am hopeful that his anger management classes and re-hab will change the “Bad Boy” actor, if the past is anything to judge by, Charlie Sheen will not be re-habilitated any time soon.
A lot of women are upset about the plea-bargain, but because he and his wife are all hunky-dory again, Brooke Mueller was the one who asked for the charges to be dropped. It’s all fine and dandy that she is on her husband’s side, but shouldn’t he still be punished for his actions? I know that Charlie Sheen is cute and all and that is Dad has even bigger pockets than he does, but even Charlie Sheen should have to face up to his actions someday.
What kind of message does this send? If you are famous, you can get away with anything- even domestic violence. Tiger Woods had to apologize to the American people for sleeping with prostitutes and XXX sex stars, shouldn’t Charlie Sheen be kissing our asses, too?
