As if not to be outdone by her kids who are now having kids of their own, Michelle Duggar has gotten herself with child – again.
Soon the title to their reality based TV show – and let’s not forget the main income source to fund the football team-sized broad that they are rearing, will be changed to 20 kids and counting…really? Still counting?!
Their stock answer to the constant state of pregnancy that the Duggars seem to enjoy is “every child deserves to be excited they are a part of life.” (I didn’t know that a fetus could get excited about being a part of life.)
The Duggar breeding pair are facing strong criticism this go-round since the high-risk birth of their last daughter. During the pregnancy, mom Duggar suffered a condition known as preeclampsia and the baby was born prematurely. The once-again pregnant Michelle says that even with those scares, it was not enough to turn them off having more children.
"If we felt that way, we would have stopped back with our second birth," insists Michelle, 45, "There are many women who have experienced preeclampsia and have gone on to have more children."
And studies show that there is a definite increased risk for mother and baby when these conditions have existed in previous pregnancies.
Let’s not ignore the main reason for all these children – well other than Michelles obsession with being pregnant and the center of attention – Money.
The Duggar’s live debt-free in a house they built, they are on world-tours funded by the show and reap other monetary benefits. Jim Bob (Goodnight John Boy, Goodnight…) claims he is in real estate and that is the reason he is home with all his kids to help out his wife, Mother Hubbard…err Duggar.
Many criticize the family and their child-rearing skills. The older children seem to be in charge of the younger ones and that the parents don’t spend enough individualized attention to the children. Personally, I would be lucky to just remember their names let alone make time for individualized attention.
Michelle says they don’t pay attention to those who are critical of their situation – obviously.
"There are a lot of good things we can learn from our critics," she says. "We really believe we are following our faith and there are sometimes going to be people who don't agree and we aren't going to worry about the negative things stated."
"We are thankful for those out there who are happy," says Michelle, "and we are grateful for each and every gift of a child."
And the baby (gravy) train rolls on…
