There’s all kind of FAT TALK going on in gossip land as reported by Gawker. While it’s nice to see the big-wigs (no pun intended) get all snotty with each other, you would hope that they could come up with something a little smarter to insult each other with than the rather obvious choice of weight gain. That’s so passe; it’s just not even as funny as it used to be.
I mean, seriously, Kelly Osbourne is supposed to be some kind of new ass-kicker because she called Christina Aguilera a “fat bitch.” Wow. Kelly’s got a certain way with the English language. She sure got her revenge. (I’m not saying that Christina Aguilera isn't fat or isn't a bitch. That’s not for me to decide.)
But, again, according to my sources, Sharon Osbourne wasn’t the only one throwing the “FAT” word around recently. Miss anorexia nervosa herself, Nicole Richie, just showed her verbal finesse by allowing that Jessica Simpson “has been throwing her weight around” lately. Gee, I wonder how long it took Nicole Ritchie to think of that one. Jessica Simpson retaliated not by hacking into Nicole Ritchie’s Twitter (although that would have been hilarious if she had the right ghost Tweeters by her side), but by saying that “someone has to be on a starvation diet to wear Nicole’s designs.”
Which is probably true. I’ve never seen an actual person wear anything by Nicole Ritchie, but I’m guessing that natural curves don’t fit all that well into her clothing line.
And, frankly. I have to admit that I’m a little disappointed in the low level of verbal insults being thrown around the table. I would kind of hope for a higher level of snarkasm amongst the great female stars of our times. Aren’t there worse insults that they could come up with than weight to throw back and forth at each other? Weight insults are soooooo yesterday. All the "real" stars are talking about positive body images and NOT about the relative FATNESS of certain stars.
Just sayin.
Of course, given the “high” intellects of the stars in question, I guess it's impossible to expect more. And I shouldn’t judge them for being so lame at being snarky. Not everyone has that particular skill.
None of them seem to have left that sorority girl /LA chic mentality. Of all the idiotic things that each of the so-called celebrities has done over the years, can't they choose better insults to fling at each other?
