I was just about to write an article about celebrity engagements and celebrity marriages when I realized that it might be high time to write a little about celebrity divorces. Yes, Kim Kardashian’s shockingly short skirts are not the only interesting thing about her; Kim Kardashian’s shockingly short marriage is. 

72 days. 

There aren’t any anniversary presents in the duration of a 72 day marriage. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries didn’t even make it to the paper stage of the wedding. 72 days isn’t enough time to get all your wedding presents delivered to you; technically, guests have 365 days to pick out a wedding present. A good strategy for celebrity weddings might be to get the presents to the bride and groom as late as possible. Why waste the money on a meaningless wedding present if the marriage is going to be short-lived? 

But don’t worry too much about good ole Kim Kardashian. 

I’m not concerned about her at all, even though she probably didn’t get all of the wedding gifts that she so truthfully deserved. Why not, you ask? She got a honeymoon to Europe and got to celebrate her fantabulous 31st birthday in Las Vegas on TV. If you think about it, Kim Kardashian has been also kind of treated like royalty--she got a special on E!, “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding.”

Not everything worked out so well for this Princess bride, but she's probably better off not being married. 

What could truthfully be better for Kim Kardashian than an unscripted divorce that presumably won’t be aired on TV, but will keep her available and in the spotlight for years to come. Well, if not years to come, at least days to come. Since the news about Kim Kardashian’s divorce from Kris Humphries broke on Monday, she has been the focus of more than a few Tweets. 

Some estimates show that Kim Kardashian was responsible for about 1.75% of the Tweets after the news about her divorce came out. My favorite hash tag about Kim Kardashian’s divorce? #ThingsLongerThanKimsMarriage; the top Tweet with this particular hash tag is also pretty great. Justin Biebers chest hair.

 If the preliminary news is correct, it would appear that divorce agrees with Kim Kardashian. The good thing about reality TV stars--maybe the only positive thing--is that they don’t tend to shy away from the Paparazzi.
