Should Paula Abdul be the Next Judge Judy?

Paula AbdulPaula AbdulBFD! Paula Abdul has quit American Idol. Honestly, she wasn't a real judge on American Idol any way (if it is not indeed fixed) and I never once heard her criticize any of the performers on the show. As a result of the show, the once-washed up singer now has an attractive resume which includes sitting at a judge's table and saying encouraging things.

People Magazine is now wondering which of the great judging prospects she will choose next.

My idea was not listed. Personally, I think Paula Abdul should be the next Judge Judy. For sure, she would lack the oomph that Simon Cowell would give to the show if he were in her spot, but his calendar is booked solid and he's not an American citizen anyway. Who doesn't need a cheerleader in the courtroom? The hardest thing for Paula would be to make her own decisions. Oh, the horrors, which side to choose?

Seriously, though, People magazine, which always knows what's what, is conducting an online and quite scientific poll of where Paula should go next. Most of the fans, which may not be the most reliable of voters, think that she should turn around and head straight back to American Idol, seemingly forgetting the fact that it has maybe been less than a week since she quit the show in the first place. Why would she quit and then go right back? Do her loyal fans think that it was just a publicity stunt intended to get her salary a little higher or what? Other choices include America's Got Talent and So You Think You Can Dance, which would be a great choice because as this music video clearly shows, her dancing has always been better than her singing.

Maybe Paula is trying to rejuvenate her own musical career. Seriously, she is 47 and looks about 32- with her dance moves, I think she could give anyone a run for their money. For a great site depicting Paula's beauty transitions over the years, check out this link.

Some people are saying she's pretty much dead in the water, but I'm holding out for ole Paula.   There is no question that people, for whatever reason, absolutely love her, and actually, she looks fantastic, and I am sure that she would look absolutely look great in a judge's gown. What do you think Paula Abdul should do? If you were her agent, what would you tell her to do?
